It was a case of cowering cornets and trembling trombones in a Hampshire village this week as Darth Vader dropped in on Michelmersh Silver Band’s rehearsal for a forthcoming concert. The light-sabre wielding (and tuba-toting) visitor from the Dark Side put in an appearance, much to the surprise of players Katie Topp, Connie and Meg Boler, as band members rehearsed the theme from Star Wars.
The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Jermyns Lane, Ampfield is the venue for ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ – an outdoor picnic concert packed full of favourite movie themes and music on Sunday 6th July. Star Wars will be just one of many instantly recognisable themes from the silver screen to be included in a family-friendly feast of film music from James Bond to 633 Squadron, and The Wizard of Oz to Disney’s Lion King.
Bring your chairs, picnic rugs and popcorn and join in the fun whilst enjoying the wonderful surroundings of the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens – two treats for the price of one ticket!
Tickets for ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ can be purchased from the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens on 01794 369318, or from the Romsey Tourist Information Centre on 01794 512987.
