Proving that the 'Pride of Romsey' is not just a rather tasty brew on offer from a local brewery, two of Romsey’s leading music organisations are to join forces in Romsey Abbey in 'PRIDE OF ROMSEY - the concert' - in celebration of the wealth of musical talent the town has to offer. Michelmersh Silver Band, Hampshire’s premier brass band, is delighted to play host to the Romsey Youth Choir led by Marion Maxey.
Formed in 2010 by Romsey Abbey School music teacher Marion Maxey, the Romsey Youth Choir has quickly earned itself a reputation for excellence in performance. With members ranging in age from 11 to 18, the choir has won awards in many local Music Festivals and is looking forward to touring in Italy this summer.
Band Chairman, Adam Smith said today: “Both of these organisations are great ambassadors for the area. MSB is currently enjoying playing in the very top flight of the brass band movement –something of which the Romsey area can be very proud. We wanted a chance to celebrate the best of Romsey talent in our favourite venue, Romsey Abbey, and are delighted to welcome one of the very best local choirs to join us - hence the ‘Pride of Romsey’ concert title.”
Concert-goers can look forward to a diverse programme of music from popular film and show themes, to beautiful classical brass arrangements and solo performances.
The Pride of Romsey Concert is on Saturday 31st May at 7.30pm with tickets available from the Tourist Information Centre, Church Street, Romsey. Tel: 01794 512987
